Just as you would for a building extension or renovation project, we begin a garden design project in the same fashion; with a measured survey of the site. Following this we produce an accurate existing site plan drawing which provides us with the foundation to begin the conceptual design.
As part of the conceptual design, we breakdown the project brief we have gathered at the start of the project and look to present a proposed scheme in a variety of formats depending on the nature and complexity of the brief. Our ideas may be presented in a variety of formats ranging from a simple 2D sketch scheme, to a concept booklet with numerous concept options presented with internal and external 3D visuals. Following this, we encourage you to review the proposals presented and feedback to us with your likes and dislikes, until we eventually achieve a design and layout into a frozen scheme you are extremely happy with.
More often than not, your garden landscape design will not require approval from the Local Planning Authority, however there are restrictions as to what you can do within your Permitted Development. If your building is listed then approval may be required in the form of a Listed Building Consent. In the event that a planning application is required, we will develop the scheme into a refined set of scaled drawings which will form the basis of the planning application. We also prepare and submit the application forms to the Local Planning Authority and administer the application through to determination. In some cases the Local Planning authority may seek more detailed information regarding the proposed soft landscaping of your scheme, particularly if your building is listed. In this event it may be required to appoint a specialist Landscape Designer to provide accurate detailing of planting species, size, etc. We will liaise with this consultant throughout to ensure the scheme is fully coordinated and protect your design vision.
It’s unlikely that your garden landscaping design will require approval from Building Control, however your garden landscaper may still require a set of garden design technical drawings to allow them to price and construct the proposed development. We will prepare a refined set of architectural plans detailing important elements of the construction which will provide a starting foundation for the contractor to price and build from.
